Your work environment reflects your mental state. If it’s disorganised and cluttered, you could be multitasking too much. While multitasking may work for some, it may not work for others, causing them to fail to complete projects or, worse, lose motivation to do anything at all.
But don’t panic; there are several techniques to clean your desk and rekindle your enthusiasm for work.
1. Use Boxes and Containers to Sort
Never underestimate the power of boxes and containers to make your life easier. Putting little items in a box that you can’t determine where to put them can immediately clear your workstation. You may also choose from various colours and patterns to suit your preferences.
These boxes are very long-lasting and storage-friendly. You may also mark these bins to make it easier to find certain objects.
2. Use the right lighting
The best light is natural light. If at all feasible, place your desk near a window. If not, consider strategically placing artificial lights around your workplace. A desk lamp may also be purchased for more concentrated illumination.
Having sufficient illumination in your workstation can also improve your mood since you will see your desk items better. As a result, you will work more efficiently and with additional motivation. You can feel heavy and tired in a dimly lit workstation.
3. Clear the desktop of your computer
If your computer desktop is unorganised, you should remove any files you will only use once. If you’re one of those people who save everything to the desktop, your screen may be clogged with icons. Allow your desktop screen to breathe.
If you can’t get rid of all of the icons, group them so that when you’re searching for one, your eyes only move in one direction. Take advantage of the sticky notes as well. Put all of your critical reminders and other information there that you don’t need to retain in your head all of the time.
4. Get Rid of Unnecessary Things
Make a list of the items you use daily. If they aren’t on the list, take them off your desk and store them in your office cabinet or the boxes and containers recommended previously in this article.
Don’t feel awful about getting rid of some of your belongings. Consider removing it from your workspace if you’re retaining it for sentimental reasons.
This action of holding on to and letting go of things can also assist you in making decisions. It’s time to choose to get rid of the items in your workstation that aren’t helping you be more productive.
5. Make Your Office Chair More Comfortable
Many individuals suffer from back discomfort due to a poor workplace chair. Naturally, you’ll be uneasy and unable to concentrate on your task if all you can think about is your back.
Invest in a nice ergonomic chair that allows you to sit comfortably in front of your laptop and offers arm and footrests.
6. Hang Motivational Art
Print and hang your favourite quotations on the wall of your office. These motivating paintings will undoubtedly remind you of your aspirations and objectives on those days when you don’t feel like working.
Go ahead and start the makeover in your office after reading this list. Today is the best day to shake things up in your workspace so you can remain productive.
