Product research and development professionals are tasked with improving products to make them easier to use, more helpful, and better overall. I had the opportunity to speak with G2’s Chief Product Officer, Sara Rossio, about product development and innovation. During our conversation, Sara shared her time management hacks, what she believes makes a good product, and how to balance product upkeep and innovation. Sara stresses the importance of staying close to customers and listening to their needs to drive innovation. Additionally, she encourages brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and emphasizes the importance of committing to follow-through. The frequency of overhauling or redesigning a product depends on ownership of engineering and product development, but Sara suggests disruptive redesigns every six months for product management only.
