In 2010, LinkedIn opened an office in Dublin, Ireland. After joining the Dublin team as one of the founding members, I had the opportunity to work in Australia, San Francisco, and now back to Dublin with G2. Reflecting on my journey, I’ve learned the power of diversity in managing teams across three continents. Cross-cultural management is the study and practice of how people from different cultural backgrounds work together to achieve collective goals. Communication styles, leadership and hierarchy, individualism versus collectivism, work-life balance, time zones and locations, and regulatory and legal compliance are all critical components of cross-cultural management. In today’s globalized economy, embracing diversity and understanding cultural differences is crucial for the success of any business, and it’s important to recognize the benefits it brings to the table.
