You, as the owner of a small business, may be overburdened with responsibilities. And, if you’re not careful, daily distractions can keep you from accomplishing your goals. However, how can you stay focused?

Distraction-free solutions that are practical.

According to research, the average human contemplation span has decreased from 12 seconds in 2000 to just eight seconds now. To put that in viewpoint, that’s a fraction of a goldfish’s attention span! And, if some violators are more serious than others, business owners should be near the top of the list.

It’s not that the human mind is less capable of concentrating now than a decade ago. The problem isn’t inside; it can be discovered from the outside. It’s a direct outcome of the recent barrage of distractions vying for our limited attention.

As a business owner, you have a lot of responsibilities. And if you’re not careful, you can appear yourself swamped and made ineffectual. Here are some practical strategies for regaining control:

1.  Make communications more centralized.

It’s not uncommon for a business owner to have a half-dozen communication channels open at any given moment. You are constantly tending to notifications across a spectrum of remote platforms thanks to e-mail, phone, SMS, Slack, and social media messaging. As a result, there’s a constant backward and forward motion that’s difficult (if not impossible) to keep track of. One way to address this is to centralize communications.

There are many ways to centralize communications, but a social intranet is a fantastic option – especially if you can locate one that interacts with G Suite (or no matter the assortment of instruments you employ).

 2. distracting Block websites.

Each of us has a favourite website that we frequent. We blindly visit these websites when we want to pass the time or avoid completing work. Websites for information, blogs, and social networking are all ideal examples. And while none of them are strictly improper, they become problematic once they prevent you from performing essential tasks.

If willpower alone isn’t cutting it, consider using a website filtering gadget that prevents you from browsing these sites during working hours.. The following are some of the most popular options.)

3.  Set aside time for electronic mail.

E-mail eats all your time! The average business owner receives well over 100 e-mails every day, and if you’re not careful, maintaining your inbox can quickly become a full-time job.

Creating electronic mail time blocks is one of the most effective ways. These are blocks of time, ranging from 15 to 60 minutes that you devote entirely to electronic mail. Then, for the rest of the day, you log out of your e-mail account and devote your attention to other tasks.

You would think this is unrealistic, but it isn’t. A 20-minute e-mail block in the morning, late morning, early afternoon, and late afternoon is plenty to keep you informed without eating too much of your time.

4.  Turn off your phone.

Another concern magnet is your phone. You can keep your focus on the tasks that matter by turning off your phone for large parts of the day. (If you have an assistant, ask them to filter your requests for you and only go along with urgent and necessary ones.)

5.  Avoid multitasking at all costs.

We like to brag about our multitasking abilities. We proudly display our ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously as a badge of honor. However, regardless of how skilled you think you are at multitasking, there is no evidence that you are getting more done. All of the research indicates that you’re preventing yourself from being as productive as you could be.

“Multitasking diminishes your effectiveness and efficiency because your mind can only concentrate on one thing at a time,” argues Travis Bradberry for Forbes. When you try to perform two things simultaneously, your mind is unable to complete both tasks well.”

Bradberry cites additional research from the University of London, which found that multitasking decreases your IQ and causes long-term cognitive impairment. It doesn’t just affect the short-term focus, to put it another way. It also hurts long-term consequences.

Regain your attention and increase your productivity.

It’s conceivable that mastering the art of concentration is difficult. You can start by looking at some common options.))A quick and detailed response is essential for everything from centralizing communications to reducing your dependency on multitasking.
